Drawing and sketching
Using various mediums students will work on a wide variety of creative projects as they sharpen their skills. Observation drawing is one of the most important aspects of an artists portfolio. Students will work from still-life and photo-reference.
Teen Painting
This comprehensive course will take students through all aspects of creating original oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings. Class size is limited in order to provide highly individualized instruction as well as small group critiques. We will create landscape, still life, wildlife, portrait and floral paintings along with learning about master artists.
High school juniors and seniors will receive intensified individualized instruction in order to develop a high quality and diversified portfolio as required for admission and scholarships to art colleges. The program is taught by New York State Certified Art Teachers who are familiar with college admission requirements. This is a year round program so serious art college bound students can be well prepared and Studio E teachers can write thoughtful recommendation letters for serious students.
A wide array of art mediums will be available for students to explore their creativity including; black and white and color drawing materials, painting with oil, acrylic and watercolor, sculpture materials, and printmaking on a professional printmaking press. Pieces will be critiqued by the Studio E faculty, and highest quality works will be placed in the students portfolio.
Private consultations and photographing the artwork onto slides or DVD can also be arranged. Realize the rewards of producing a professional portfolio, as have many previous students from Studio E. See where your art takes you!
All clay, glazes and firings are included. This class is designed to give students the knowledge required to work with clay. Learn how to throw pots on the pottery wheel along with learning hand-building techniques using the pinch, coil and slab building processes.
We will cover surface decoration, glazing and firing of the pieces. Both functional and decorative pieces will be created.
